The Cuban archipelago stretches out some 776 miles long from San Antonio Cape to the Maisi Tip -the island nation's westernmost and easternmost ends, respectively. Width varies from 118 to as little as 18 miles.
Cuba comprises over 3,715 islets, keys and small islands, with the Isle of Youth being the largest. Its main archipelagos are Camaguey's Jardines del Rey and Sabana, both in the Atlantic Ocean, while the Jardines de la Reina dominate the Caribbean Sea.
This SPA-TALASO Center, perched on the breathtaking keys of Jardines del Rey, more specifically in Coco Key -Cuba's fourth largest island- embraces a grand total of 370 square kilometers, including 22 kilometers of beaches of amazingly warm waters and powder-thin sands -great conditions for the development of the Acuavida center. This group of islands was baptized between 1513 and 1514 by the Spaniards as Jardines del Rey (The King's Gardens) in honor of Spanish King Fernando the Catholic.
Today, Coco Key is a paradisiacal place marked by environmental balance and a quasi-untapped, well-preserved ecosystem in which Mother Nature decided to put together a peaceful and intimate getaway, barely touched by man and far away from any modern-life scheme. There's no better place for relaxation and repose.
The location is well known for its jaw-dropping landscapes and its sandy beaches of crystal-clear water. It's indeed a place where quietness, wellbeing and a maritime atmosphere melt harmoniously into one another.
In the same breath, the local flora and wildlife are very peculiar. Even though its coastal scenery is not marked by lush vegetation, its coral reefs are jam-packed with abundant marine life. This is a permanent invitation for customers to practice scuba diving.
Within the framework of endemic birds in the keys, there are wading birds, gray warblers and pink flamencos -their population is in the neighborhood of 30,000 individuals, one of the largest reserves on the face of the earth. There are other bird species as well, like finches, woodpeckers, mockingbirds, pelicans and a variety of ducks.
The destination features a complete lodging and recreation infrastructure. Hotels like Melia Cayo Coco, Blau Colonial Cayo Coco, Tryp Club Cayo Coco, Sol Cayo Coco, Melia Cayo Guillermo and NH Krystal Laguna Villas & Resorts speak volumes of the above. |
